Youth on Course Establishes Presence on PGA TOUR

PGA TOUR professional Josh Teater Represents Youth on Course Kentucky

(PEBBLE BEACH, Calif.) Youth on Course– the non-profit organization providing young people with subsidized golf, college scholarships, paid internships and a caddie program – joins the PGA TOUR this week at the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship partnering with 18-year veteran, Josh Teater.

Teater, a lifelong resident of Lexington, Ky. will be sponsored by ISCO Industries, headquartered in Louisville, Ky., during the 2019 season. Through his relationship with Jimmy Kirchdorfer, board member for Youth on Course Kentucky and chairman and CEO of ISCO Industries, Teater will remain connected to the Bluegrass state while supporting the need for affordable and accessible golf for kids. The TOUR veteran will sport the Youth on Course logo on his right sleeve.

Josh Teater“I was fortunate to grow up as a member at Greenbrier Golf and Country Club while also playing a lot of Lexington’s public facilities that now offer the Youth on Course program. I will never forget the days at Tate’s Creek, Lakeside, Meadowbrook, and Kearney Hill,” says Teater. “Youth on Course has found a sustainable way to make the game accessible to everyone and I feel privileged to support their mission on the PGA TOUR.”

Since Youth on Course was introduced to Kentucky in 2017, the program has subsidized more than 1,000 rounds of golf. As word spread into 2018, memberships in the Bluegrass state increased by 147% while participating courses grew by 130%.

Teater, a graduate of Morehead State University, first made an appearance on the PGA TOUR in 2010. He’s amassed nearly 285 starts, more than 60 top-25s and 24 top-10s in his career on the PGA and Web.com Tours. In 2009, he won his first event at the Utah Championship Presented by Utah Sports Commission.

“Josh is a natural ambassador for Youth on Course in Kentucky and we are proud to have him represent ISCO Industries,” says Jimmy Kirchdorfer, “As a result of support from Josh and many others, we are now able to impact the lives of even more young Kentuckians by launching our pilot Youth on Course caddie program this spring.”

Continuing its momentum into 2019, Youth on Course’s first appearance on the PGA TOUR comes after it announced a 55 percent membership growth and addition of 374 new partner facilities in 2018. The organization now has more than 50,000 members across 29 U.S. states and Canada. Fueling the golf economy, nearly 150,000 rounds of golf were played for $5 or less and $985,000 were reimbursed back to golf courses. To date, more than 765,000 rounds have been subsidized and Youth on Course has reimbursed $5.2 million dollars back to partner courses.

In addition to subsidized rounds, Youth on Course also facilitates paid internships, a caddie program and nationwide scholarships. They have awarded 223 students with college scholarships totaling more than $1.4 million in financial support. The current Youth on Course scholarship retention rate is ninety-four percent, with 80 students already graduated.
