This summer, Youth on Course proudly welcomed a new generation of golfers to the Rhodenbaugh Performance Golf Camp at Poppy Ridge Golf Course, continuing a legacy built on family, generosity, and a lifelong passion for the game.

Originally established through a generous donation from Jeff Rhodenbaugh in honor of his mother, the camp was created to give young golfers an opportunity to develop both their skills and confidence. Jeff's parents dedicated much of their lives to junior golf, believing that the game had the power to shape character, create friendships, and open doors for young people.

Through their involvement with the Junior Golf Association of Northern California, Jeff's parents supported countless junior golfers and their families. Jeff's mother managed administration and member communications, while his parents regularly welcomed young players into their home, creating relationships that extended well beyond tournaments and competition.

That same spirit continues today through Youth on Course.

By bringing the Rhodenbaugh Performance Golf Camp back to life, Youth on Course is honoring a legacy that closely reflects its mission: providing young people with life-changing opportunities through golf.

This June, selected Youth on Course members gathered at Poppy Ridge for four days of learning, competition, and connection.

Under the guidance of Poppy Ridge's teaching professionals, campers refined every part of their game—from full swing and short game fundamentals to course management and tournament preparation. Each day brought new opportunities to challenge themselves, ask questions, and gain confidence alongside fellow golfers who shared the same passion for the game.

But some of the most meaningful moments happened between lessons.

Whether sharing breakfast before heading to the practice facilities, encouraging one another during drills, or celebrating great shots on the course, campers quickly formed friendships that made the experience even more memorable.

"The Rhodenbaugh Performance Golf Camp was one of the best camps I've ever attended. I made lifelong friends, gained confidence in my game, and making an eagle on the Championship Course is a memory I'll never forget." - Kai F., Youth on Course Member

The week also reminded everyone that success in golf is about far more than a scorecard.

Campers learned the importance of patience, resilience, sportsmanship, and supporting one another—qualities that will serve them both on and off the course.

For many participants, the camp provided access to coaching, facilities, and experiences that might not otherwise have been possible.

"We learned about the camp through a Youth on Course email and knew it was too special to pass up. Even though golf is an individual sport, Suri loved being part of a team environment and learning from the coaches while strengthening the fundamentals." - Jeanie Lau, Parent of Youth on Course Member

The experience concluded with a round on Poppy Ridge's Championship Course, where campers had the opportunity to put everything they had learned into practice before celebrating the week alongside family members and supporters.

Years ago, a dedication bench and tree were placed at Poppy Ridge to commemorate the camp's original launch and the Rhodenbaugh family's commitment to junior golf. Today, they remain as a quiet reminder that one family's generosity continues to create life-changing opportunities for the next generation.

"Golf's impact on my career and family has carried on to my kids," Jeff shared. "I now have a grandson who has moved from the soccer field to the golf course."

That impact could be seen throughout the week—not only in improved swings and lower scores, but in the confidence campers gained, the friendships they built, and the excitement they carried home.

As Youth on Course celebrates 20 years of creating access and opportunity through golf, the return of the Rhodenbaugh Performance Golf Camp represents more than the revival of a beloved tradition. It is the continuation of a legacy that lives on through every young golfer who steps onto the course ready to learn, grow, and discover what is possible.

Thank you to Jeff Rhodenbaugh and the Rhodenbaugh family for investing in the next generation of golfers, and to the staff and teaching professionals at Poppy Ridge Golf Course for creating an unforgettable experience for our members.

Because of partners like these, the legacy continues.
