Youth on Course Alumni Meagan McEnery and her dad during her 100 Hole Hike

Youth on Course had an immense impact on me growing up.

My high school golf coach told me about Youth on Course when I was 14. The membership was very impactful since it not only gave me access to play more rounds of golf, but it provided me with a strong sense of community within my high school golf team as all of us were able to play golf on the weekends together with our YOC memberships.

During my junior year of high school, the membership went beyond just improving my golf game - it helped me obtain my first job in the golf industry; working at the California Golf Club and Harding Park Golf Course.

"The most impactful lesson YOC has taught me is to not be afraid of taking on challenges or opportunities that may feel outside of my comfort zone. Because those opportunities are where I have learned and grown the most as a person."

From there, Youth on Course helped me grow more as a person knowing the money I was saving up from working could one day help pay for college. It was a dream of mine I didn't think would be financially possible for my family. YOC was the first organization to push me to believe that I could go to college, as no one in my family had. The confidence YOC has given me, as well as a college scholarship, led me to graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Washington and helped me jump-start my career in the golf industry.

The experiences and opportunities YOC opened up to me have made me into the person that I am today.

I remember being a YOC member and seeing some of my mentors participating in the 100 Hole Hike Hike. Being invited to participate feels very full circle for me. As a youth I was very appreciative of my mentors. They affected my life in so many ways through YOC that now I want to give back.

On October 18, I will be supporting the Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA) and teeing it up with Scott McNevin (JGAA), Logan Rasmussen (AGA), and three other JGAA and AGA supporters. It will be very rewarding to share this experience with others who play such an instrumental part in helping to support and advance junior golfers across Arizona.

I am excited to be a part of the 100 Hole Hike tradition!
