December 17, 2024 / by Kayla Bell
At Youth on Course, we’re inspired every day by stories of young golfers who have pursued their dreams through our program. Today, we’re spotlighting Noah Nuez, an exceptional alumni who embodies the mission of making golf affordable and accessible.
Noah played an impressive 95 rounds as a Youth on Course member, taking full advantage of affordable access to courses. “Youth on Course allowed me to continue playing affordable golf throughout my teenage years, ultimately leading to me playing Division 1 golf at the US Naval Academy all four years here.”
Noah’s excellence extends beyond the golf course. Majoring in Ocean Engineering, he held a 3.41 GPA and has earned multiple academic accolades, including spots on the Superintendent’s, Commandant’s, and Dean’s Lists.
In addition to his academic achievements, Noah’s strong leadership and teamwork skills shine through his contributions to the US Navy’s golf team. His career-low round of 70 and ability to perform under pressure demonstrate his resilience and growth as both a student-athlete and future Navy officer.
“Upon graduation in May 2025, I will be commissioned as a Pilot in the United States Navy. Youth on Course is a tremendous program and helps develop dreams into realities!"
Noah’s dedication and hard work have propelled him to great heights. Here are some highlights from his golfing career at the U.S. Naval Academy:
- Junior Year (2023-24): Played six tournaments with a 78.22 stroke average. Career-best round of 70 at the Grand Canyon Invitational and key performances in the Army-Navy Star Match and Patriot League Championship.
- Sophomore Year (2022-23): Competed in three tournaments, achieving a 76.6 stroke average. Notable outings at The Doc Gimmler and ODU/OBX Intercollegiate. Named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
- Freshman Year (2021-22): Debuted in the Army-Navy Star Match and competed in two tournaments. Finished with an 81.17 stroke average. Named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Before joining the Naval Academy, Noah’s achievements in high school and junior golf were equally remarkable:
- A 2021 graduate of Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix, Arizona.
- Two-time First-Team All-State selection.
- Only golfer to win Junior Golf Association of Arizona “Player of the Year” back-to-back in the 15-to-18-year-old division at ages 13 and 14.
- Led Brophy College Prep to the 2018 AIA Division 1 State Championship
Stories like Noah’s inspire our mission and highlight the incredible impact affordable access can have on young golfers. Noah’s journey from playing 95 affordable rounds with Youth on Course to competing at the Division 1 level and preparing to serve as a U.S. Navy Pilot is a testament to the power of opportunity and determination.
We’re proud to be a part of Noah’s journey and can’t wait to see all he accomplishes in the future.
