Members Share Impact of U.S. Bank Collin Morikawa Birdie Challenge

Every young golfer deserves the opportunity to play the game they love, regardless of financial barriers. Thanks to our incredible partnership with U.S. Bank and the Collin Morikawa Birdie Challenge, the opportunity to extend access is being realized for thousands of youth across the country.

Since 2023, the Collin Morikawa Birdie Challenge has made a lasting impact on the lives of thousands of young golfers nationwide. For every birdie that Collin Morikawa makes during the PGA TOUR season, U.S. Bank donates five Youth on Course memberships. Last year alone, this partnership resulted in 1,585 memberships being donated, granting countless young golfers access to affordable rounds of golf and the chance to develop both on and off the course.

During the 2024 PGA TOUR season thus far, Collin has made an astonishing 325 birdies, translating to 1,625 additional new Youth on Course donated memberships. This support is opening doors for youth who might not otherwise have the chance to experience the joys and benefits of golf.

Two of the young people directly impacted by this initiative are Emily S. and Jaime A., whose stories highlight the profound difference that the U.S. Bank partnership and Youth on Course memberships can make.

Emily, a high school student in Lancaster Pennsylvania with a passion for golf, was one of the many young golfers who received a donated Youth on Course membership thanks to the U.S. Bank partnership. Living in a community where two local courses are Youth on Course partners, Emily expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to play golf at an affordable rate.

"Golf is an expensive hobby, and I feel very privileged to have the chance to play locally without putting a financial strain on my parents," Emily shared. "Youth on Course has made it possible for me to get out to the courses in my area and practice, which is so important for my growth as a golfer."

Emily is not just staying local with her newfound membership. She’s excited to explore new courses outside of her home county, broadening her experience and challenging herself in new environments. "A huge thank you to everyone at U.S. Bank for making this possible," she said. "The $5 rate helps offset all the high costs associated with golf, and I really appreciate it."

Her heartfelt message to Collin Morikawa underscores the personal connection she feels: "Hey Collin, my family and I love watching you play. You were awesome to watch at the Masters. Thanks for partnering with U.S. Bank to make golfing more affordable for us kids."

Emily aspires to play golf in college and is also an accomplished Irish dancer. She was ranked at the top of her class for academics in both her 9th and 10th grade years. Youth on Course looks forward to watching Emily grow in her golf game and continue to support her success on and off the course.

For Jaime, the Youth on Course membership has been nothing short of transformative. Coming from a family that couldn’t afford the high fees of private courses, the membership provided by U.S. Bank and Youth on Course has removed a significant barrier to his development as a young golfer.

"Thank you to Youth on Course for enabling Jaime Jr. to obtain a membership," Jaime’s father shared. "This membership has allowed us to practice more frequently, enhancing Jaime's competitiveness and fostering strong bonds between parent and son while enjoying the beautiful game of golf together."

The impact of the Youth on Course membership extends beyond the game itself. Jaime’s family recognizes the core values that golf instills in young people; values they believe are vital for the new generation. "U.S. Bank, your participation in this incredible opportunity for kids who aspire to embrace and be part of golf is greatly appreciated," they said.

Jaime’s admiration for Collin Morikawa is also clear. "Thank you, Collin, for being an example for our kids. You serve as a role model for working hard and achieving success while enjoying the beautiful and challenging sport of golf. We appreciate your dedication and commitment to supporting kids!"
