A Passport to Junior Golf: Jonathan Moon's 72-Course Journey
July 8, 2026 / by Itsel Oseguera
At Youth on Course, we're continually inspired by the young people who use their membership as more than just a way to play more golf but as a pathway to pursue big dreams and embrace new opportunities. In honor of Youth on Course Month, we’re proud to spotlight Jonathan Moon, a Youth on Course alumnus and 2025 Scholar, who took a remarkable journey across the country using his Youth on Course membership, playing 72 courses in 2025. His “72-Course Challenge” had one goal in mind: to show what’s possible when you combine passion with access.
To celebrate 20 years of impact, we're inviting alumni across the country to pay it forward. Our goal is to have 350 alumni help create the same opportunities for the next generation of golfers. Whether it's $5 or $100, a one-time gift or a monthly donation, every contribution helps make the game more accessible.

"Inspired by Youth on Course's mission, the 72-Course Challenge was my way to give back to the junior golf community and show what was possible with access. 45 courses out of the 72 I played were Youth on Course partners, which is why I call the Youth on Course membership a 'junior golf passport’.”

His journey began at Wildwood Green Golf Club in North Carolina, where Jonathan hit his first shots of the challenge through towering, tree-lined fairways. He continued with rounds at some legendary destinations like Spyglass Hill in Pebble Beach and Pinehurst Resort, and discoveries of hidden gems like Canyon Mesa Golf Club in Sedona, Arizona.

Months later, the adventure came to a close at The Links at Spanish Bay on California's Monterey Peninsula, a memorable finish to an experience that took Jonathan across the country, one course at a time. Every stamp in his passport was a reminder of where access to the game can lead.
"My 72nd 'stamp' at Spanish Bay will be one that I will cherish forever. I can still see the golden sky as the sun was setting during my final stretch of holes and finally lying down on the 18th green after I made the final putt to complete the challenge. It was a very special 'stamp' because with every hole, I looked back on every course I played and everything that I learned along the way."

While Jonathan collected memories at every stop, the greatest takeaway was the confidence he built by conquering new courses, and seeing how those experiences also were helping him navigate life off the course.
"The most important lesson that I learned from traveling and taking on so many new courses was how to find confidence in the unknown. In a similar way, I found more confidence in my studies and preparing for other responsibilities off the course. All of the experiences I had playing these 72 courses deepened my story as a Youth on Course member and strengthened my passion for the game."

Like so many alumni inspired by access, Jonathan has donated to Youth on Course to ensure the next generation have the same opportunities that he did. This Youth on Course Month, we invite every alumni to do the same.

"I describe my experience as a Youth on Course member as life-changing and empowering. I am inspired to make a difference and give back to those who have supported me along my journey. Join me!"
