March 1, 2021 - (PEBBLE BEACH, CA) – Youth on Course — the non-profit organization dedicated to opening doors, supporting dreams and transforming the lives of young people through opportunities on and off the golf course – has partnered with LPGA*USGA Girls Golf to bring more opportunities to girls through the game of golf.
The partnership between two of the industry’s premier youth golf organizations will open doors with opportunities for access, affordability and community for more than 90,000 young female golfers of the approximate 2.5 million junior golfers across the country. The partnership will provide all LPGA*USGA Girls Golf members the opportunity to join Youth on Course to gain access to affordable play and will connect Youth on Course members to Girls Golf sites in their area to build a community of other golfers.
“LPGA*USGA Girls Golf is growing an amazing community of girls in the sport. This partnership will help Girls Golf play golf at local courses more affordably and that increased frequency of play will allow them to continue to develop their skills and strengthen relationships with their friends and families,” says Michael Lowe, Vice President of Programs for Youth on Course. “We also see this partnership as an opportunity to connect our teenage members with their local Girls Golf sites so they can volunteer and mentor young juniors.”
"It’s an honor to partner with Youth on Course to provide affordable golf course access to LPGA*USGA Girls Golf members across the country,” said Nancy Henderson, Chief Teaching Officer and President of the LPGA Foundation. “We share the belief that through golf, we have the ability to empower, inspire and transform lives. By opening doors of opportunity through affordable access to our sport and fostering female-friendly communities for girls to engage with golf, we will have an even greater impact on the lives of our collective members.”
Working to empower girls through the game of golf, LPGA*USGA Girls Golf provides quality golf instruction to young female golfers with sites in more than 500 communities across the country. Girls Golf is committed to changing the face of the game by keeping girls engaged, instilling confidence and providing social opportunities in a friendly setting. The program’s approach has helped contribute to the surge in participation in golf amongst girls over the past decade, increasing from 17% in 1995 to 33% to date.
