(PEBBLE BEACH, Calif.) – Youth on Course the non-profit organization dedicated to opening doors, supporting dreams and transforming the lives of young people through opportunities on and off the golf course – has partnered with the Virginia State Golf Association (VSGA) to deliver affordable and accessible golf and personal growth opportunities to the young people across Virginia.

Committed to making the game more appealing, inclusive and accessible to nurture the next generation of lifelong players and lovers of the game, Youth on Course members may play rounds of golf for $5 or less at more than 1,400 participating courses across 38 states and Canada. Members also benefit from career opportunities through a caddie and internship program in various regions and nationwide college scholarships. Juniors in Virginia ages 6-18 can sign up for a Youth on Course membership here: www.youthoncourse.org/join.

“Golf has seen a significant surge across the country this year and we’re continuing to expand our reach to give young people new opportunities through the game as shown with this new partnership,” says Michael Lowe, vice president of programs for Youth on Course. “The VSGA is committed to growing the game and our partnership will help open the doors to juniors who may not have had access to the game of golf otherwise.”

“The partnership with Youth on Course aligns with the VSGA’s mission to promote and serve the game of golf in Virginia,” says Matt Smiley, executive director of the VSGA. “It allows the association to have a greater impact on the access to and affordability of the game for current and future junior golfers. In addition, golfers around Virginia will be able support the future of the game they love by contributing to this initiative and assisting the next generation of golfers. The program provides opportunities for junior golfers to deepen their love for the game and, in doing so, creates lifelong golfers. Youth on Course has proven its ability to positively affect lives and we are eager to introduce it to Virginians.”

“We are pleased to join the growing list of allied golf associations who have come to recognize a significant impact that this program has had on junior golfers across the country,” says Gary Beck, President of the VSGA’s Board of Directors. “The VSGA will be committing substantial resources of time and money to ensure the success of this program here in the Commonwealth. We invite our members clubs to embrace this initiative and we appeal to our fellow golfers to support this worthy cause. “

Born out of the Northern California Golf Association in 2006, Youth on Course subsidizes greens fees to remove cost as a barrier to entry for potential lifetime golfers. Operating in 38 states and Canada, more than 100,000 members have played more than one million rounds of golf while the organization has helped generate over $8 million in tee-time revenue back to individual golf courses.
