The First Domino - Noor Ahmed's Story

For Youth on Course alum Noor Ahmed, the path from public courses in Sacramento, California to a career in professional golf operations was built through a series of opportunities that reshaped what she believed was possible.

Before she was helping run professional tournaments around the world with the LPGA, Noor was a junior golfer playing city and county courses that became her training ground.

“Youth on Course is where I started,” Noor says. “It made golf affordable for me.”

In 2017 Noor applied for and received a Youth on Course College Scholarship. At the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, she competed on the women’s golf team while earning her degree in History and Ethnic Studies. Balancing academics and Division I athletics pushed her in different ways but also grounded her in community.

“Being a student-athlete can be stressful,” she says. “But it’s also incredibly rewarding. I’ve made lifelong friendships with my teammates and met people from so many different backgrounds who I’ve learned so much from.”

After graduating in 2021, Noor continued her academic and professional journey at the University of Central Florida, earning both her MBA and a Master’s in Sports Business Management. While in graduate school, she immersed herself in the sports industry, working as a graduate assistant, coaching junior golf, and taking on multiple internships to gain hands-on experience.

It was her internship with the USGA that ultimately shifted her trajectory. Getting a behind-the-scenes look at championship operations revealed a side of golf she hadn’t fully considered before. What started as an opportunity quickly became a direction.

Today, Noor is a Championships Administration Coordinator for the LPGA, working within the rules and competition team to help manage tournaments across the globe. She supports tournament operations through event administration, entry management, and on-site scoring responsibilities, while traveling internationally. She is also actively working toward becoming a certified rules official.

“I realized I hadn’t seen everything in golf like I thought I had,” she says. “There’s so much more behind the scenes.”

Now, rather than competing inside the ropes, she helps create the environment for players competing at the highest level, many of whom she once competed alongside. That dual perspective gives her a unique understanding of the game from both sides: player and administrator.

Now, she hopes more young people understand that the sport offers far more than just playing opportunities.

“There are so many careers in sports beyond just playing,” she says. “I think more young people should be exposed to all the different roles that go into making the game happen.”

From affordable rounds in Sacramento to coordinating tournaments on a global stage, Noor’s story reflects what access can unlock when paired with ambition and opportunity. That first round wasn’t just the beginning of a golf journey. It was the first domino.

“Your life is like a domino effect,” she says. “Youth on Course was the first domino that got me into golf and allowed me to have longevity as a junior player and ultimately has allowed me to work at the LPGA.”
