A Legacy Returns to Poppy Ridge Through Youth on Course

This summer, Youth on Course is proud to bring back the Rhodenbaugh Performance Golf Camp at Poppy Ridge Golf Course, reviving a special tradition rooted in family, mentorship, and a lifelong love for the game.

Originally established years ago through a generous donation from Jeff Rhodenbaugh in honor of his mother, the camp was created to give young golfers opportunities to grow both on and off the course. Jeff’s parents were both deeply connected to the game, and their family’s passion for golf and youth development helped shape meaningful experiences for junior golfers and lasting relationships within the game.

Through their involvement with the Junior Golf Association of Northern California, Jeff’s parents supported young players and families for many years. Jeff’s mother managed administration and member communications, while his parents regularly opened their home to players, creating friendships and memories that extended far beyond competition.

That same spirit of access, community, and opportunity continues today through Youth on Course.

By bringing the Rhodenbaugh Performance Golf Camp back to life, Youth on Course is continuing a legacy that aligns closely with its mission: creating opportunities for young people to grow through golf.

“Golf’s impact on my career and family has carried on to my kids,” Jeff shared recently. “I now have a grandson who has moved from the soccer field to the golf course.”

This June, selected Youth on Course members will arrive at Poppy Ridge for several days of instruction, competition preparation, mentorship, and camaraderie. Participants will work with expert teaching professionals on full swing, short game, and on-course strategy while building confidence both on and off the course.

The return of the camp also honors the people who helped build it from the beginning. Years ago, a dedication bench and tree were placed at Poppy Ridge to commemorate the camp’s original launch and the family behind it, symbols that still remain as part of its story today.

As a new generation of Youth on Course members prepares to take part in the experience, the Rhodenbaugh family’s legacy continues through every lesson shared, every friendship formed, and every young golfer given the opportunity to pursue their potential through the game.
