2017 YOCH3

For most golfers, 18 holes in one day is enough. What about 100?

On September 25, 24 participants in California, Kansas, and Pennsylvania played in the 100 Hole Hike. The players previously secured pledges from family, friends, and supporters that allowed them to raise money and awareness for Youth on Course with every hole completed (Pledge: $1 per hole, 100 holes completed = $100 to Youth on Course).

We're extremely proud to report that all of the participants completed 100 holes, and a few players managed to play into the 120s! To get through the day, players teed off before sunrise and had to average about 7.5 minutes per hole, sometimes carrying and playing with just one club. Here are some quick stats from the Hikers:

  • Estimated Miles Walked: 536
  • Total Holes Played: 2,459
  • Holes in one: 2
  • Water/Gatorade bottles consumed: 150
  • 12 hours straight of actual play

The hikers raised more than $90,000.

“With each dollar raised, Youth on Course continues to remove cost as a barrier to entry for young people and to create more lifelong golfers,” says Youth on Course Executive Director Adam Heieck. “The outpouring of support means more opportunities for junior players, which benefits them and the game.”

Thank you to the players, donors, courses and supporters. The players are now enjoying ice packs and rest.

Youth on Course sends its sincere appreciation and thanks to Orinda Country Club for the use of their facility, the Olympic Club for the use of the Cliffs Course and Indian Hills Country Club in Kansas City. Without their generous, uninterrupted access to these courses, The Hundred Hole Hike could not have happened.
